関西学院千里国際中等部高等部は大阪インターナショナルスクールと
同じ建物の下で
設立時から
”Two schools together”を実践しています。

日本の教育指導要領に基づいた教育を行う一条校である
関西学院千里国際中等部・高等部と
IB校である大阪インターナショナルスクール（OIS)では
年度の始まりが違ったり、色々な違いがあるながらも、

音楽・美術・体育は一緒の授業を行うShared Classを
行っていたり、
行事やクラブ活動を一緒にしたり、
違いを生かし共に歩む運営がなされています。


今回は、色々なチャンスが重なり、こんなことが起こりました。

大阪インターナショナルスクールの
PYPの5年生の教室へ、
千里国際高等部12年生の生徒2名が招かれました。

高等部12年生の生徒は
夏休み明けに全生徒を驚かせた
あの、ダイオウイカをはじめとする巨大展示の仕掛人です。
（環境系のプログラムを担当する私、SIS教員も感激！
環境キャンペーンとしても素晴らしい展示だったんです）

実はPYP5年生の生徒も
リサーチに基づいた展示を行う課題があり、
それに際して、
高等部12年生の展示が学習の役に立ったとのことでした。
そして、日ごろ鍛えられている活発な5年生から
質問がたくさん出てきたので、
それにこたえてほしいとのことで、
高等部12年生が
大阪インターナショナルスクール5年生の教室に招かれた、
という流れがありました。

大阪インターナショナルスクール小学部の校長先生Ms. Marshallの司会のもと
高等部12年生の生徒が質問に答えていきました。


中には、
展示を作る具体的な工作方法についての質問や
そもそも興味を持ったきっかけ
将来の夢や仕事のプラン
展示するまで誰にどう相談したのかといった具体的な質問や
展示前にリサーチするにはどういった資料を読むのがよいのかなど
高校生の課題研究で学ぶ資料評価の話も出てきていました。

ひっきりなしに出てくる質問に
そして積極的なOIS5年生の姿勢に
12年生も、私(SIS教員)も舌を巻いておりました。

今後のリクエストもあり、
お互いにいい刺激をもらっていた様子でした。
これからの5年生の展示、12年生の今後のプランにさらに期待！ですね。

自分を磨くこと、そして他人への貢献。
Mastery for Serviceを形にしよう！
そんな想いを見事にCreativeに発揮してこのプロジェクトを起こしました。
夏休みの最後の一週間を使い、玄関に水族館のような飾りつけ。
秋学期初日の登校時に誰もが楽しんでくれるようにと。
こんな二人をとても誇りに思っています。

8 SIS high school students participated in the second Kansai Consular Corps Youth Symposium. The theme of the event was "Kigen yoo hataraku" or "Working happily" and the venue was Osaka prefectural assembly room.

Schools taking part presented in English on Kansai businesses and employment. Feedback was given by participating country consuls and followed up with further discussion. SIS students presented their findings on problems relating to foreign resident employment. Many schools presented on their SGH research topics, but SIS's was based on a new group research project.

Presentation abstract:

Anyone has the right to comfortably work in Japan. This applies not only to Japanese workers but also to foreign workers. The number of foreign workers have increased recently, and they have become an indispensable figure in the Japanese society. However, many of these workers are currently working in a severe environment. Can we abandon this reality when foreign workers are the key to maintaining Japan's sustainability, especially since the amount of workload in Japan is decreasing due to Japan becoming an aging society with declining birth rate? No. We believe that we should face this problem and endeavor to solving it because we are moving further towards globalization.

Focusing on the local community is one way to resolve this issue, and this would connect to making Japan an adequate place to live, also developing as a leader to other nations.

Three SIS students made poster presentations at Uegahara, Kwansei Gakuin University as part of the SGH Koshien  Research Exposition 2017.

The exposition venue was split into classrooms and presentations were given at the same time with three other schools participating. Poster sessions were 15 minutes placed in a 45 minute slot which was repeated four times. Even when time was up, questioners were continuing to come and explanations even spilled over into out-of-time sessions.


Presentation title: How to increase the number of children who have healthy minds and bodies in developing countries: considering the philosophies of child care support through real life examples



Presenation title: Policies that the Philippine government should implement to avoid an increase in the number of street children.



Prensentation title: Can English education contribute to world peace? An analysis of English education reform plans and current practices in Japan.

The Senri International School of Kwansei Gakuin has been operating since 1991 educating students to become "informed, caring, creative individuals contributing to a global community", the mission statement upon which the school was founded. The school received the status of Super Global High School from Japan's ministry of education in 2015, and has since been working to further strengthen the education provided with plans looking to "educate resilient internationally-competent leaders for an increasingly globalized society".

毎年本校で行われているプレゼンテーション大会にあわせて高校2年生、3年生合わせて22名の生徒によるSGHフィールドワーク中間発表のポスターセッションが行われました。

口演発表を真剣な眼差しで見守る生徒達。
